Senior Data Engineer
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Centre of Excellence.
We are evolving our data platform to support the next phase of growth in analytics and AI. This role will play a key part in that journey - supporting the ongoing operation of our existing data landscape enterprise data warehouse while contributing to the ongoing development of our modern data platform.
As part of a central data and analytics team within ICT, you will work closely with our Data Architect architects and stakeholders across the business to design, build, and scale data solutions that drive meaningful impact.
The Role
This is a hands-on role focused on building and maintaining the data foundations that support the organisation. You will work across both our existing SQL Server-based data warehouse and our emerging data platform, helping to deliver reliable data pipelines, improve existing assets, and support the platform transition to more scalable approaches. You will bring your expertise and partner closely with our Data Architect to execute architectural designs, while contributing your own perspective to ensure solutions are practical, scalable, and effective in meeting business needs.

You are comfortable bridging legacy and modern environments and bring a strong understanding of engineering principles. You are confident contributing alongside architects and mentoring others and are pragmatic in delivering solutions that create real business value, connecting technology to business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and data models across including from enterprise systems such as SAP ERP
- Support the ongoing operation and improvement of our existing data landscape, including SQL data warehouse, data lake and integrations. . SQL Server-based data warehouse
- Contribute to the development of a modern data platform (e.g. lakehouse architectures)
- Work closely with the Data Architect to execute and refine designs
- Support the migration of data assets from legacy platforms to modern solutions
- Develop scalable, reliable, and well-documented data products
- Integrate and model data from enterprise systems such as SAP ERP
- Mentor and support other team members, leading by example

Skills and Experience
- Strong experience with enterprise data platforms
- Experience with SQL-based data warehouses (e.g. SQL Server)
- Experience with modern data platforms or lakehouse architectures
- Strong data modelling and pipeline development skills
- Experience working with SAP is beneficial
- Knowledge of data engineering best practices
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Experience mentoring other engineers
