Product Development Engineer - Infant Care Research
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is out to change the future of respiratory support for infants, to better support children and families. There is no shortage of problems to be solved, and this means there is an opening for a motivated engineer to bring new ideas to life.
Our team’s responsibility includes the products we manufacture today, as well as a pipeline of new product development. Your ability to think critically and problem solve systematically will help you navigate all phases of the product lifecycle across multiple projects. You will support the team to ideate, focus, prototype, test and learn as we strive to release a next generation of products. This could be a great next step for an established product developer who is motivated to lead the design process, as well as contribute to it.
In our diverse and supportive culture, effective collaboration and communication is highly valued. You will be as keen to volunteer your strengths to the team, as you are comfortable to ask others to contribute theirs. Our team strives to continuously learn, and you will be well supported to come up to speed with our patients’ needs and asked to contribute to that learning over time.
As an experienced team member, you will understand the range of functions that it takes to commercialise a product within an organisation. You will be thinking about the future, seeking out and incorporating new information from across the business, and aligning the project objectives with the product portfolio.
Skills and Experience:
Graduate Degree or higher in, Biomedical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or other relevant scientific field. To be considered in this role you will require:
- Between 3 - 7 years' relevant experience
- Familiarity with human centred and risk driven design processes.
- A willingness to try new ideas, manage risk and resolve uncertainty.
- Confidence navigating design controls, from product inputs, product design outputs to product validation
- Great written and verbal communication skills
It would be advantageous to also have:
- Experience in Medical Devices, or other regulated industry
- Experience in clinical trials, clinical research and human physiology
- Experience in fluid mechanics
