Payroll Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic HR team as a Payroll Specialist. Start immediately and be part of a collaborative team committed to continuous improvement. 

This role will include: 

• The accurate and timely processing of payroll for over 3,500 employees (weekly and monthly).  
• Providing expert advice to customers on their payroll queries and delivering effective and efficient management and resolution of payroll service requests ensuring excellent customer service. 
• Leading payroll investigations.  
• Post-payrun reporting and analysis for teams across the business. 
• Leading the maintenance of all employee information in Chris21. 
• Providing support with testing payroll related systems including upgrades and configuration changes where required. 
• Monitoring the payroll reconciliation report and investigating discrepancies to ensure data accuracy. 

The successful candidate will have: 

• A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a payroll team, preferably in an environment with a Collective Agreement. 
• A comprehensive understanding of New Zealand payroll legislation (Holidays Act 2023, Wages Protection Act 1983 etc).  
• Proficiency in payroll systems, ideally Chris21, and advanced MS Excel skills. 
• Strong multitasking skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities. 
• Exceptional customer service skills and high attention to detail.  
• A proactive approach to learning and collaborative team player with a continuous improvement mindset.  

Preferred skills but not essential: 

• Experience with Chris21 and/or iChris. 
• Previous exposure to post pay run IRD reconciliation and filing. 
• Previous exposure to ACC payroll processing.
