Payroll Specialist
We have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic HR team as a Payroll Specialist. Start immediately and be part of a collaborative team committed to continuous improvement.
This role will include:
- The accurate and timely processing of payroll for over 3,500 employees (weekly and monthly).
- Providing expert advice to customers on their payroll queries and delivering effective and efficient management and resolution of payroll service requests ensuring excellent customer service.
- Leading payroll investigations.
- Post-payrun reporting and analysis for teams across the business.
- Leading the maintenance of all employee information in Chris21.
- Providing support with testing payroll related systems including upgrades and configuration changes where required.
- Monitoring the payroll reconciliation report and investigating discrepancies to ensure data accuracy.
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a payroll team, preferably in an environment with a Collective Agreement.
- A comprehensive understanding of New Zealand payroll legislation (Holidays Act 2023, Wages Protection Act 1983 etc).
- Proficiency in payroll systems, ideally Chris21, and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Strong multitasking skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities.
- Exceptional customer service skills and high attention to detail.
- A proactive approach to learning and collaborative team player with a continuous improvement mindset.
Preferred skills but not essential:
- Experience with Chris21 and/or iChris.
- Previous exposure to post pay run IRD reconciliation and filing.
- Previous exposure to ACC payroll processing.
