Operations Engineer / Senior Operations Engineer - Surgery
About the role
Do you thrive in rapid project life cycles and embrace the uncertainty that comes with exploring new, unproven opportunities?
We are seeking an experienced Operations Engineer with an entrepreneurial mindset to join our Surgery division—a start-up-like environment dedicated to proving out new opportunities in the operating theatre.
In this dynamic role, you will support our existing surgical product portfolio while helping bring new products into commercial production. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will play a key role in ensuring products are delivered reliably to customers while supporting the growth and expansion of the business.
As part of a team that embraces a "fail fast, learn faster" mindset, you will navigate complex challenges, evaluate opportunities, and implement practical solutions that balance customer needs, regulatory requirements, operational capability, and business objectives.
This is a unique opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working across a broad range of technical and operational challenges, learning at pace, and making a tangible impact on both business growth and patient care.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Has a minimum of 5 years of experience in medical device manufacturing.
- Embraces a flexible, proactive, and hands-on approach, and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Applies engineering expertise and quality system knowledge throughout design transfer, and manufacturing.
- Successfully balances project delivery with day-to-day manufacturing support, adapting to changing business priorities as needed.
- Resolves technical challenges across products, processes, and operations through practical and sustainable solutions.
- Demonstrates strong communication and relationship-building skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Has experience with medical device sterilisation processes and validation, which would be advantageous.
