About the opportunity 

As an Operations Engineer, you'll work closely with teams across the business and play a key role in solving complex manufacturing challenges. You are a confident communicator and relationship builder who can influence stakeholders at all levels, drive technical decision-making, and lead improvement initiatives from concept through to implementation. 

This role encompasses elements of production engineering, product development, process development, supplier development, quality, project management and procurement.  You'll become a highly influential member of the Operations Engineering team, taking ownership of significant manufacturing improvements and helping to shape the future direction of our production systems. 

You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to improve product quality, manufacturing capability, process robustness and operational efficiency through data-driven analysis and sound engineering judgement. You'll lead complex investigations, drive root  

cause analysis activities and deliver sustainable solutions to challenging technical problems. 

In addition to supporting day-to-day manufacturing performance, you'll lead cross-functional projects, coordinate technical activities across multiple stakeholders, and provide guidance to less experienced engineers. You'll also contribute to the design, development, validation and ongoing support of manufacturing equipment, test systems and production processes while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. 

About you 

As this role is heavily influenced by internal and external parties, your ability to be flexible, demonstrate cross functional understanding and effectively communicate (written and verbal) is key. You’ll bring: 

• 7+ years’ experience in Operations Engineering within the medical device industry 
• Demonstrated success leading complex manufacturing, process improvement or product industrialisation projects 
• Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating work across multiple disciplines 
• Strong technical problem-solving capability with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive decisions 
• Advanced working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. PDCA, value stream mapping, single-piece flow) 
• Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and regulated manufacturing environments 
• Experience mentoring or coaching developing engineers 
• Experience with automation, electronics, software, or advanced manufacturing technologies 
• Six Sigma certification 
• A Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent qualification)

This is a full-time, permanent position (40 hour week) with a salary range of $105,000 - $115,000. The role is based in our Auckland office in Highbrook Drive in East Tamaki.
