The Role
This is a 14 month fixed term role covering for a Parental leave. We are looking for a high-performing, hands-on person to join our New Zealand Health, Safety & ergonomics team to support research and development teams.
This is a dynamic role which will see you partner to understand and influence the safety of work. You will focus on the work that people are doing and how they can be supported to do this safely and successfully. You will lead, coach and build partnerships that promote leadership engagement, empower our employees, and take a risk-based approach to continuously improve our ways of working.
You will demonstrate the ability to build trust with teams and inspire change by providing comprehensive insights and advice that directly improves the safety of work.
You are a people-centred, vibrant team player who actively contributes to strengthening a unified and high-performing HSW Team culture.
About You
We are looking for a fresh thinking, curious, engaging and technically savvy person who is passionate about understanding what is necessary for people to work safely. In addition to your great communication skills, you will be resilient, adaptable, and constantly seeking ways to challenge the status quo and empower shared leadership and ownership of safety within our business.
Essential for this role:
-
At least 3 years HSW experience
-
A fresh thinking approach and the ability to drive continuous improvement to improve the safety of work.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proven ability to build trusted relationships.

A collaborative, consultative and pragmatic approach with the ability to tailor advice to different needs.

Proven ability to engage and influence at a management and team level.
-
Effective at engaging and influencing key stakeholders at all levels with a hands-on approach.
Nice to have:
-
Exposure to machine safety and/or R&D environments
-
Familiarity with SafetyII principles and human centred safety approaches

Preferrable to have background in either Physiotherapy or Engineering.
