We are looking for someone to join the Global Logistics Team as our new Freight Operations Manager. This role will challenge you but also enable you to work within a supportive and dynamic environment where you can put your stamp on this newly scoped role.
The Role
The Freight Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all domestic and international freight operations for Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, covering both imports and exports. This role ensures that freight activities are cost-effective, reliable, and aligned with business objectives.
Key responsibilities include managing a team of three direct reports and leading relationships with freight forwarders to ensure optimal service performance. The role drives continuous improvement initiatives, problem-solving, and efficiency across all freight functions.
The Freight Operations Manager monitors and reports on freight performance metrics, service levels, and total freight spend, leading cost optimization projects and ensuring compliance with global trade and customs regulations. Collaboration with internal finance, manufacturing, and supply chain teams is essential to deliver integrated business outcomes.
Accountabilities include:
- Managing end-to-end global freight operations (air, sea, and road).
- Leading a team of three, setting clear objectives and performance standards.
- Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with freight forwarders and carriers.
- Driving cost optimization and service improvement initiatives.
- Tracking and reporting freight KPIs, cost performance, and operational efficiency.
- Ensuring compliance with customs, trade, and transport regulations.
- Collaborating with finance and supply chain teams on budgeting, forecasting, and process improvement.
