Associate Product Manager - Surgery

We are looking for an Associate Product Manager to join our Surgery team. This is a key role in a multi-disciplinary project team focused on a specific area of surgery which is at the very early phases of development. You will contribute to the life cycle of product development, through to market launch and beyond – by delivering timely results through understanding the problem, ideation, testing, building evidence, through to commercial release.
About the Role
The primary focus of this role is on assisting our project team(s) with understanding the customer needs and the problem e are looking to solve, supporting the sales teams in their implementation of marketing & sales strategies, and keeping them up-to-date with the latest product-specific and clinical knowledge. You will drive and support the development of product and education materials, tools, and programmes.
- Help a multi-disciplinary project team to solve challenges and uncertainties and develop the best products and therapies to solve the right problems and improve patient care and outcomes
- Work with the project team to ask and answer key questions to help advance our understanding
- Identify and build relationships with key opinion leaders to both leverage their expertise to support the project and influence to support driving clinical change.
- Developing materials, education materials and programmes, posters, and presentations to help educate customers about the benefits of our therapies and the use of our products.
- Create and deliver training and education to a variety of audiences both internally and externally
- Be able to recognise opportunities and the work to be done then be willing to do what is required even if it stretches you outside of your expertise.
This is a very broad and varied role - On a day-to-day basis you could find yourself supporting one of our new products in market, meeting with and learning from key healthcare professionals in NZ and around the world, managing the stock requirements of our markets as we grow, developing new marketing material or assisting in the execution of marketing plans and sales strategies across a range of different products in the surgery space. You will be a key interface between product development and our sales teams and customers
About you

You will have a positive attitude, be able to work well as part of a team and autonomously, while able to approach tasks with an action-orientated 'get stuff done' attitude. Your affinity with technical concepts, physiology, and your excellent communication skills will be a real asset.
- The ability to apply scientific knowledge and reasoning to progress the development, introduction, adoption and sales growth of medical devices.
- The ability to understand the medical device design challenges and assess their implication on clinical application and the customer, and be able to implement a solution together with the product development engineers. It is vital that you are a team player with the ability to interact and communicate with and diverse range of people and the openness to learn outside of your immediate area of expertise.
- Exceptional oral presentation skills to a variety of stakeholders.
Your ability to influence across roles and functions as well as travel overseas is also important to your success in this role.
Skills and Experience
To secure this position you will ideally hold a marketing, clinical, scientific or sales qualification with 1-2 years of experience in technical product marketing.
Experience in healthcare, medical device, or pharmaceutical industries will be a bonus.
It would also be advantageous if you have:
- Previous experience in hospital operating rooms and surgical procedures.
- Exposure to a commercial environment (or want to learn more in this area).
