What is the role?

Reporting into the Senior Group Tax Advisor and sitting in the wider Finance team, this role contributes significantly to our business – truly, no two days are the same!  The Assistant Tax Accountant:

  • Supports the Senior Group Tax Advisor and team with the accurate and timely preparation of the New Zealand direct, indirect and employment tax compliance requirements.  This includes assisting with the Group’s year-end tax accounting and reporting.
  • Assists with reviewing overseas financial statements, tax returns and compliance disclosures.
  • Engages with stakeholders across the business and help research technical issues and support wider projects to ensure business groups are prepared to meet tax requirements.
  • Assists with reviewing current and proposed tax law to manage risks and proactively ensure compliance.
  • Assists with transfer pricing analysis, documentation and reporting for related party transactions.

Who are you?

  • 2+ years of accounting or tax experience within a professional services firm or similar in-house function, and New Zealand corporate tax or GST experience would be beneficial.
  • Accounting or Law tertiary qualification preferred.
  • Working towards a CA or CPA qualification preferred.
  • Problem solving and continuous improvement skills are an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills and a desire to contribute positively to the team environment.
