Product Development Engineer - Airvo Mechanical Design

We have two great roles to work on our new Airvo3 product. These Product Development Engineering roles are made for inquisitive and innovative people who are looking to make a positive impact on the outcomes of patients requiring respiratory support.

About the Roles

The roles offer an opportunity to work in a mechanical design team, focused on developing new and novel medical products. You will be responsible for the design and delivery of new products, as well as supporting existing products already on the market. We need your help to ensure our products are as effective, safe, and successful as possible.


One role is to support the development of this newly released respiratory support device, implementing design improvements, focusing on improving production reliability, performance and manufacturing yield.


The other role will take products through the entire development cycle, from conceptual ideation, detailed design, prototyping, performance testing, process development and manufacturing setup.


The systems that you will be working on involve a complex mix of mechanical systems, electrical hardware and custom software, so exceptional communication skills and the ability to work together in a cross functional group will be highly beneficial. This also gives you the opportunity to perform project management for small projects within a multi-disciplinary team in order to deliver project objectives in a fast-paced and changing environment.

About You:

You should have

  • A formal engineering qualification in mechanical, mechatronics (or similar) with 2-5 years of transferable working experience
  • Proficient with time management, prioritisation and working under pressure
  • Experience with 3D modelling using CAD software. Creo experience would be ideal
  • Excellent problem-solving skills especially with design and manufacturing
  • Knowledge of plastic part design and material specification.
  • Foundational knowledge of plastic part design and material specification
  • Proficient in technical report writing – clear documentation is a key part of medical product development


Ideally you may have

  • Project management experience (organising, co-ordinating and communicating)
  • Practical hands-on ability (Prototyping, CNC machining, Moulding etc.)
  • Knowledge of Fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Experience working in regulated industry such as healthcare
  • Experience with the design of metal parts
